1978 Volkswagen Transporter Bay Window Bus 1978 Swiss EMT Transporter Double Cabin Nicely Restored to Original Condition The Bosch Blue Emergency Rotating Light & dual Bosch Sirens are in all place and fully operational. Swiss badging is intact and flawless. This vehicle draws a crowd wherever it goes. Honestly it is the only one of its kind at any auto show or meet. From 2005 until I purchased the vehicle it has been in the hands of 3 collectors and rarely used. The last collector undertook a very nicely done restoration. Included was quality fresh paint (last year) in the original color of Pastel White a new interior including seats and door panels. Also new are the entire clutch assembly brakes and tires. To replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel the engine was R& R from the car (2012). At that time the cylinder compression were checked and all found to be within normal range. The headliner glass and engine all appear to be original and are in extremely nice condition. It is my understanding that this is an absolutely original numbers matching vehicle. Overall the Transporter presents in excellent condition exceptionally dry impressively straight with no dings or dents. The truck bed gates and floors have been redone function correctly and the wood has been nicely restored. The Transporter starts at the first turn of the key and drives straight and true. Although I am unable to determine if the engine has ever been rebuilt ( all logbook entries are in Swiss German) it has obviously been maintained to a very high degree. All systems both mechanical and electrical work perfectly. All VIN plates and stampings as well as all other tabs and stampings are in their original place.
