Signed in the plate upper left image. From the 1912 M. G. Pellet printing of 25 impressions. Jean-Louis Forain was considered one of the most important artists in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His friend Degas got him interested in the Paris ballet and its dancers and patrons as subjects for his art. This is an excellent example of Forain s earlier Impressionistic works.
