When Lucas first arrived I felt sorry for him. Not anymore. Lucas is the happiest dog I ve ever known. I ve learned that he doesn t mind that he s blind due to cataracts and that his blindness doesn t make him any different from any sighted dog. He is everything anyone could ever want in a dog. Lucas has fulfilled something inside myself that I didn t even know was missing. It s not just me teaching Lucas it s Lucas teaching me. He shows courage strength confidence and faith in everything he does. It takes guts to jump down from the couch when you live in darkness and a healthy dose of confidence courage and faith that the floor will be there. He s smart quick learning and undefeated. Nothing slows him down at all. He mapped this house (in one day) and the backyard (in a day and a half). Lucas doesn t need special assistance. He plays with me and the other dogs with ease. He enjoys running in the backyard car rides and string cheese. He can hear the cheese being unwrapped half a house away and comes running. We re starting to explore outside to prepare for our walks together. Lucas will make someone a superb pet and loving family member. Daily he amazes me.
