Nickname Raj Posted Breed Jack Russell Terrier Dachshund Mixed (short coat). Raj is an two year old JRT Dachshund cross. He weighs 15lbs. Raj is 1 of a group of southern California dogs brought up to Oregon Humane Society last fall. When Raj was examined by OHS vets on intake it was discovered he had a PDA - a congenital heart defect leading to early death unless treated. He also had a chronic and long-term giardia infestation that was not discovered until later. Despite the PDA which requires extremely expensive and high-risk corrective surgery Raj was placed for adoption. He went through two homes in four months and ended up in our rescue. He was thin and weak and losing ground fast when he came into our care. Raj s PDA has been corrected with a plug inserted in his artery at OSU veterinarian college. He has passed all his post-surgery check ups with flying colours and it is expected he will lead a very long and active life....
