The deer-head Chihuahuas are said to have fewer health issues and be more interested in obedience training. Having said that we do know that Paloma is as beautiful as her name (which means dove in Spanish) suggests. Paloma is also one of those girls who knows what she likes and is rather firm in her opinions. She is very loyal and affectionate to her inner circle . On the other hand she is not keen on strangers. One could call her an introvert. Like many introverts a big party is draining whereas a small gathering of her best buddies recharges the spirit. Accordingly she is an observer rather than a participant. She likes to be in high places where she can keep an eye on her world without necessarily having to fend it off. Her new guardian needs to respect this essential element of her nature and ensure that her environment remains stimulating rather than overwhelming. A quiet home with a stable routine will fit this bill rather nicely. Children Not so much. Paloma is frightened of other dogs. Allow her sufficient space around other dogs and prevent potential canine pals from invading her area. With some patience and management she could live with another small dog. Paloma is also rather private about her person. She has some handling intolerance which can certainly be improved by a professional behavior modification program.
