This is accomplished through comprehensive inspection of the water site and application of herbicides and algaecides that help to keep weeds and algae at bay as well as complete aeration services. The Aquatics Seasonal Field Technician position is a part-time position working 20 to 30 hours per week. The position pays 12 hr. Work days are typically from 6 or 7 am to 5 or 6 pm from Monday through Saturday. Technicians will perform field operations associated with the inspection and treatment of lakes ponds canals and various waterways for the control of aquatic weeds and algae. The Applicator will be trained to recognize invasive species weeds and algeas and to apply the appropriate herbicide algaecide to control or eliminate aquatic weeds. Shift Varies - Monday- Saturday 6 7 00am- 5 6pm (end times may vary based on business needs)Pay 12.00 per hourRequired Experience Job Duties and Responsibilities Drive a motor vehicle such as a pickup truck or similar and utilize a map to drive to assigned treatment areas may include towing a trailer with boat gator or ATV attached Operate vehicles such as boats airboats gators or All-Terrain Vehicles and use a high-pressure sprayer to treat assigned sites Inspect water source carefully identify plants correctly measure treatments accurately and dispense treatment utilizing a 75-80 pound backpack in a safe proper and timely manner Performs cleaning and daily inspections of vehicle and equipment to verify working condition and communicate any issues to supervisor Document and communicate daily work activity including product used to ensure completion of customer contracts Responsible for making sure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all time Successful Candidate Must Be 18 years of age or older Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms Have a valid Drivers License with an excellent driving record Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively Other Requirements Must be able to work through the end of our 2016 season (November December) Must be available to work 20-30 hours week Monday- Saturday 7 00am- 5 00pm (end times may vary based on business needs) Ability to independently and safely maneuver a truck and trailer combination that may include boats ATVs or gators Capable of using hand held technical devices including but not limited to smartphones gps and system applications Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain including but not limited to water heavy vegetation and uneven land throughout residential communities urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather. Work may require the consistent use of water boots hip waders or chest waders even during summer months. Willingness and ability to work in semi-wet to wet areas on borders of lakes and canals Willingness and ability to work in and amongst wildlife habitat Be able to read and follow maps Be able to lift and carry backpacks of up to 75 pounds Have good physical dexterity Ability to effectively partner with cross functional teams to meet performance objectives and to support mission and vision of the Company Ability to travel to multiple site locations to meet the needs of the business May be required to pass the Florida Aquatics Applicator exam (training provided) We offer a team atmosphere where each individual can and does make a difference.
