Social service providers can become so focused on the needs of those they serve that they often forget to take time out for themselves and to find balance within the workday and their lives. Unlike burnout the impact of compassion fatigue can often be subtle and gradual. However the results can be just as harmful to our professional and personal lives. Participants will explore effective strategies for coping with compassion fatigue as well as for developing professional and personal resilience. Learning Objectives By the end of this training participants will be able to -Describe the reasons and causes that lead to vulnerability when dealing with client trauma.-Define compassion compassion fatigue and burnout.-Develop strategies for building and maintaining resilience.-Create a plan for self-care to promote personal well-being.
