Work Location Elk Point AB cattle farm Position overview To plan and carry out day to day operational aspects of the stock and pastoral management with the key objective being to maximize the productivity and profitability of the property without compromising stock welfare plant condition or human resources. Reports to Owner Transportation Travel Information Own vehicle and valid driver s license required. Education Completion of high school Experience Extensive farming experience (over 5 years) obtained as a farm supervisor or livestock worker or by working on a farm. Languages Speak English Read English Weight Handling Up to 20 kg (40 lbs). Job Duties Manages the overall operations of the cattle farm Determines the amount and kinds of livestock to be raised and crops to be grown Organizes and co-ordinates raising and breeding of livestock planting cultivating and crop harvesting activities Hires and manages farm personnel Establishes a marketing program Develops and keeps financial and production records Purchases farm machinery livestock seed feed and other supplies Maintains farm machinery equipment and buildings Performs various farming duties including tractor driving when needed. Additional Skills Responsible for Day-to-day operational decisions Health and comfort of livestock Selection and purchase of breeding and or feeding stock Marketing of all livestock - pricing transporting Feed formulation and determining rations Maintenance of equipment and farm buildings Ordering and purchasing farm tools and equipment Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records Ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
