The rush to production resulted in the boxy but pleasing Chevy II. Billed as the the thrift car it pledged no-nonsense styling that would catch glances years away from the showroom. It blended luxury & low price and was offered in a lineup that included sedans coupes convertibles and station wagons. No other GM car shared the integral body frame construction with a separate front sub-frame. Single leaf rear springs claimed to eliminate the inherent harshness of customary multi-leaf springs.
