Brighton Fire Rescue District is hiring for a Fleet Mechanic. The Fleet Mechanic performs duties under general supervision to repair maintain and service District-owned vehicles portable equipment and facilities as required. Following is a non-exclusive list of the primary duties and responsibilities for the position of Fleet Machanic 1. Performs difficult and complex repair work on a wide variety of District vehicles. 2. Performs emergency repairs to District vehicles remains on call for emergency repairs after hours. Respond to roadside assistance requests repair vehicles when possible or call for a tow truck. 3. Performs preventative maintenance on District vehicles as well as schedules and determines priority of repair work. 4. Maintains records and reports including work completed. 5. Performs complete overhaul and repair work on different types of gas and diesel apparatus and equipment. Such equipment may include small engines aerial platforms and stationary generators. 6. Repair rebuild and overhaul transmissions differentials front and rear end assemblies. 7. Repair and overhaul motors generators fuel systems hydraulic systems and other specialized related equipment. 8. Road test equipment to locate defects and to check the repair work. 9. Perform electrical work on automotive equipment such as to rebuilding alternators generators and starters. 10. Replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings brake systems (Including hydraulic and air brake) oil seals steering assemblies and shock absorbers. 11. Perform welding tasks. 12. Repair and overhaul fire service pumps valves nozzles and any other fire or EMS related equipment. 13. Will schedule perform and record all annual pump service tests. Will make all necessary repairs for successful passage of the test. 14. Shall be responsible for the proper care cleanliness and safety of the maintenance service area. 15. Maintains records and inventory of parts in stock room. 16. Responsible for maintaining shop tools and repair equipment. 17. Will perform repairs utilizing good safety practices. 18. Performs facility maintenance work as assigned. 19. Maintains basic shop operations in absence of Fleet Facility Manger 20. Performs other work as requested or required.
