TutorMentors Needed for Foster Youth

Tutor Mentor Role Take the lead in supporting a foster youth through an ongoing one-on-one relationship Serve as a positive role model and companion. Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together Strive for mutual respect Build self-esteem and motivation Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them Tutor mentors will assist their mentee in developing academic and behavioral goals and setting rewards for the achievement of those goals. Goals should be put in writing and submitted to AFC. Tutor mentors will track and report progress and results to AFC. Population Served Children Children our future and we need to offer them all the love support and opportunities that we can to make their lives better and break the cycle that they are in. Community Need The tutor mentor program serves children in fostercare group homes with a mentor that can aid both academically and socially. Community Impact The tutor mentor program allows a child to have someone to count on someone just for them every week that can help them with their homework and or just hang out. In a group home or foster home there are sometimes 10 kids to one adult. Having that special person makes them feel special and gives them something to look forward to each week.
