Original drawing in pencil on white wove paper. Titled The Coiffure this drawing from 1891 shows a woman arranging her hair. The woman is viewed from the right with her reflection in the mirror. According to art scholar Adelyn Dohme Breeskin this is a preparatory drawing for the reknown color etching on the same theme (Br. 152 same title). Contains Mathilde X collection stamp lower right. Reference Adelyn Dohme Breeskin Mary Cassatt A Catalogue Raisonn of the Oils Pastels Watercolors and Drawings no. 816 p. 275. Framed size 18-1 4 inches H x 16-1 2 inches W (46.3 cm x 41.9 cm). Good condition with uneven toning of the paper. Framed in gold French-design molding and finished with creme linen matting and complementary gold fillet. Covered with a UV-resistant acrylic cover.
