ROLE of the POSITION The Director of Educational Outcomes Assessment will design a comprehensive program of student assessments design and develop a system for program evaluation that will support continuous curriculum improvement and support faculty in the development of new student assessment strategies. The Director will collaborate with the educational deans and faculty to assess learning outcomes analyze data and report results. This individual will promote a culture of evidence-based assessment across UNLV School of Medicine and provide faculty development on current assessment practices. The Director will guide the development of assessment strategies and program evaluation for curricular elements and core competencies for all degree programs at UNLV School of Medicine. As a faculty member this individual will collaborate with UNLV School of Medicine faculty in scholarly publications on educational approaches outcomes and assessments. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provides leadership in developing and promoting policies and procedures that address design articulation documentation and implementation of the assessment of student learning outcomes for UNLV School of Medicine throughout the 4-year MD curriculum Develops assessment strategies collects and analyzes data on programmatic goals and desired outcomes for students inclusive of all 4 years of the MD curriculum Collaborates in the design and analysis of clinical performance assessments including Clinical assessments such as milestones competencies and professional activities Standardized patient experiences. Low and high fidelity simulations including computer simulations Synthesizes data to produce reports Compiles data from a variety of sources to help monitor UNLV School of Medicine s performance and when possible uses comparison data from other medical schools Provides data for accreditation national data bases etc Identifies key metrics and develops standard reports for tracking metrics and reporting Assists with the development of new reports as requested Maintains organizational documents records and reports. Manages special projects as required Collaborate with GME leadership for excellence in GME educational outcomes assessment Knowledge Skills and Abilities Doctoral degree with an emphasis in measurement statistics evaluation or related field required Ability to demonstrate knowledge and expertise of principles of education assessment strategies and educational milestones Experience in Medical Education strongly preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills required Ability to work with faculty staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner required Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (word processing data management) advanced skills and experience with Word Excel and Access required Documented history of success in peer-reviewed publication required UNLV School of Medicine Profile The UNLV School of Medicine is creating a world-class center for medical education patient care and research that prepares Nevada s physicians with the most innovative and technologically advanced forms of medical training while serving the health care needs of a diverse population through community partnerships. Our main objective is to attract educate and retain doctors committed to practicing in Southern Nevada. It will be the first public allopathic medical school in Southern Nevada. The medical school was officially established Aug. 22 2014. In 2015 Gov. Brian Sandoval and the Nevada legislature approved more than 27 million in startup funds to help the school meet its deadline of welcoming its charter of class summer of 2017. The medical school is on track to meet this goal. Last year it raised funds to cover full four-year scholarships for its entire charter class of 60 students plus 25 each for the next three entering class. QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Doctorate degree in measurement statistics evaluation or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and 5 years of experience.
