The ramp s welded aircraft-grade aluminum construction aids in its durable yet lightweight trifold design. A three-fold ramp design feature with vertical and horizontal interlocking hinges allows a family member friend or caregiver to easily close the ramp and carry as one unit. If one finds it too heavy to carry the full ramp this trifold ramp can be detached into two separate ramps by hinge pins. How long of a ramp do I need First measure the vertical rise from the ground to where the ramp will sit on the vehicle stairs or threshold. Then take that measurement and follow the calculations below for either occupied ramp standards (one person is sitting in the scooter or wheelchair as the caregiver pushes it up the ramp) or unoccupied ramp standards (no person is sitting in the scooter or wheelchair as the caregiver pushes it up the ramp). Unoccupied Ramp Standards The ADA recommends a slope of 3.12. This requires that for every 3 of vertical rise there is at minimum 1 of ramp length. For example a 12 rise would need a ramp length of at least 4 . (12 divided by 3) Occupied Ramp Standards The ADA recommends a slope of 2.12.
