Type 2 Diabetes Study

Volunteers Needed The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of treatment with a drug called linagliptin on the long term occurrence of selected complications of cardiovascular disease (for example stroke or heart attack) as compared to the placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus already receiving the standard of care treatment. In addition the study will investigate the impact of treatment with linagliptin on kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.You may be eligible to take part in the CARMELINA Study if you are 18 years of age or older you have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes you have a history of heart problems (eg. heart attack or stroke) and or current kidney problem or reduced kidney function (eg. problems with kidney function)There is no cost to participate in this clinical trial. Qualified participants will receive study-related medication lab tests and medical care at no cost.
