1973 would mark the final year of Mercury s popular Cougar as a real pony car before engine horsepower ratings took a dive but before that happened buyers had available such beautiful and luxurious machines as the 1973 XR7 convertible now available for immediate sale at Big Boyz Toy Box. This Cougar just added to the Big Boyz Toy Box inventory is one special cat . Of the 60 628 Cougars produced in 1973 just 3 165 were of the XR-7 series It was the last topless cats Mercury would produce. And our 1973 XR-7 convertible is equally as special. The current owner only the third babied it as to have it garaged and covered and with a dehumidifier constantly running The 81 707 miles shown on the odometer are the original miles on this beauty. This XR-7 is equipped with power steering power brakes and air conditioning. The ginger original interior (except the steering wheel) is emblazoned with t-bar cougar emblems. It has the Rally Gauge package. The engine is the original 351 Cleveland two barrel and so is the automatic transmission. The wheels dressing this beauty are Magnum 500 15 inch rims w cougar center caps. However the ORIGINAL hub caps (see photo) are included in the sale of the car. In the trunk is the original spare tire kit.The black convertible top is a power top with a clean glass rear window. The original AM FM radio has the old time cassette player. The under chassis was powder coated. It has a Flowmaster exhaust system so this Cougar has one nasty growl. This XR-7 is hitting the road with brand new Goodyears. Also the Cougar is equipped with a CB radio. As the photos show this is one gorgeous classic car.
