Person with experience in cutting materials and sewing together fabrics with only a sample for a guideline. Needs to have knowledge of how to operate a commercialized sewing machine overlock machine button hole machine blind hem machine etc. Prefer someone who is English speaking but bilingual is ok or Spanish speaking. Must be able to work in a fast paced pressured environment Needs to have knowledge of the construction of gowns and how to alter them as needed. Needs to have knowledge of patterns and the different markings. Needs to have knowledge of different fabrications and fabric terminology and how to care for them. Needs to be able to work independently with little supervison. Needs to be able to produce a perfect quality garment in a timed manner. Needs to be able to work well with others. Needs to be able to work at a sewing machine all day. Needs to be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed when emergencies arise. This person will be sitting at a sewing machine all day long constructing a dress from pattern pieces and no instructions only a sample to look at. They will need to be able to produce a garment in less than 4 hours time from start to finish. Experience is extremely important as in this environment there is not a lot of training time due to the nature of the business.
