The Receptionist has one of the most important and most challenging jobs in our clinic. Because you interact with clients more than any other staff member and are often the very first and last person that a client will see the impression you make is a lasting one that can shape a client s entire view of the practice. Whatever the circumstances it is your responsibility to project the competence and empathy that is fundamental to our practice philosophy.We are seeking someone who fits the following Full time position (40 ) hours with weekends and evenings.Open schedule.High school diploma or equivalent.Customer Service background Veterinary experience a plus but not required. We will train the right person. Basic computer knowledge including typing skills Microsoft word Internet Email and knowledge of basic grammar and spelling.Use of multi-lined phone systems and good phone etiquette.Significant experience with basic office functions in a busy office environment.Requirements Be consistent and reliable in attitude and work habits.Punctual.Leave personal problems outside of work.Quickly learn how to pronounce know the meaning of and spell commonly used veterinary terms.Perform basic computer skills type 40 words per minute.Work requires lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time. May be exposed to unpleasant odors noises and animal feces urine. There is always the possibility of bites scratches and contagious diseases.Client Communication Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner with clients even when situations are stressful.Can deal intelligibly pleasantly and efficiently with clients often doing several things at one time.Can greet clients with poise confidence and natural effort remembering their names and those of their pets.Can outline costs and fees in a positive light while supporting hospital payment policies. Can turn future clients (phone-shoppers) into clients through relationship building and bonding.
