Agriculturist &ndash Caddo Research Station

The individual in this position will be responsible for support of plant research operations and facilities including plot preparation and maintenance at the OSU Caddo Research Station. Duties include but are not limited to center-pivot irrigation control system operation and maintenance ground preparation and planting with tractor with autosteer technology allowing exact precision and placement and care of plants. In addition routine mowing and supervision and training of employees may be required. Individual will perform general maintenance on research equipment involving electronics and computers buildings and minor repairs involving carpentry plumbing small engine maintenance and equipment calibration etc. Minimum qualifications Bachelor degree in Agriculture or related field. Pesticide Applicator license (may acquire after hire and must keep current). Skill in operation of above-ground irrigation equipment and repair. Skill in operation of GPS-technologies used to operate irrigation equipment tractors and maintain locations in fields. Requires good oral and written communication skills. Basic understanding of small engine operation carpentry plumbing and painting. Must be able to lift equipment and materials operate a variety of laboratory and field equipment. Must be able to maintain and use computers and software for communication writing reports and proposals and analyzing data. Must be able to understand and use experimental design and statistical analysis systems. Individual must interact in multidisciplinary setting cooperating with research faculty from OSU and throughout the U.S. Preferred qualifications Master s degree in Agriculture or related field and 2 years experience in grounds maintenance field plot preparation irrigation installation and maintenance and supervising employees.
