Grants Accountant

Grants Accountant Position Background Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHS Baltimore) is a non-profit quasi-governmental organization responsible for the administration of mental health and substance use disorder services in Baltimore Maryland overseeing a budget of 62 million. We are seeking applicants for the position of Grants Accountant. This position reports to the Grants Accounting Supervisor. The Grants Accountant compiles maintains monitors and reports financial information for various grants and for sub-vendors to ensure accuracy accountability compliance with federal state local regulations and conformity with established organization s policies. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Manage DHMH and non-DHMH grants by completing and submitting budget applications preparing reviewing for discrepancies variances and unusual expenditures and reconciling interim financial reports i.e. grant expenditures and revenues requesting payments maintaining and updating allocation schedules and utilizing BHA s web financial reporting to report information on type of services purchased Complete and reconcile grants close-out financial reports including Annual 440 Reports with organization s financial statements and submit to funding sources. Prepare General Ledger adjusting journal entries as needed Manage sub-vendor s grants by reviewing for accuracy and completeness the sub-vendor budget applications budgets supplements reductions modification requests analyzing and consulting with other team members regarding reasonableness and consistency of budgeted costs reviewing for accuracy and processing sub-vendors fee-for-service invoices expenditures reports and requests for payment in accordance with funding agencies regulations and organization s cash management policies to ensure that grant funds are properly utilized and expended reviewing and processing sub-vendors Annual 440 reports Provide grants accounting financial and technical assistance to sub-vendors Preparing grant information supporting documentation and reconciliation and participate in funding agencies site visits and audits Complete sub-vendor s confirmation letters for their independent audits Collaborate with team members on areas of concern in relation to sub-vendors Compile on a grant and sub-vendor level various financial data including spending and projections for review analysis and reporting Keep abreast on grants provisions conditions requirements or any restrictions Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge Skills and Abilities Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word a must Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines a must Knowledge of grants accounting and budget oversight preferred Experience with Great Plains accounting software and any databases preferred Ability to communicate well with internal and external contacts necessary Financial reporting experience knowledge of federal government circulars (OMB A-110 A-122 A-133 state regulations a plus) Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor s Degree in accounting business management or finance required AND five (5) years of accounting experience If interested please submit your resume including salary requirements and a cover letter to Kelly Williams.
