Coordinator of African American Affairs

This position reports to the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Position responsibilities include the promotion and support to higher education for students from diverse backgrounds. A primary focus of the incumbent s efforts is on increasing the recruitment retention and graduation rate of students from diverse backgrounds and first generation students through support services. The incumbent works closely with the African American Student Association the Black Alumni Association the Black Faculty and Staff Association the Office of Admissions the Graduate College and other campus units and external organizations to provide services and programs that promote and expand diversity and inclusion awareness sensitivity and cultural competence at Oklahoma State University. Work schedule will extend beyond regular office hours of 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday as needed to complete assignments. Minimum qualifications Master s Degree in Education Counseling Psychology Higher Education Administration or related field and three year s work experience in a related setting experience working with students from diverse backgrounds knowledge of academic needs of minority students with focus on African American students.
