This is the grand daddy of all Variac -type variable transformers. It is Heavy Duty high capacity used to vary AC or DC electric motor speed usually in metal machine shops or to slowly dim theatrical stage or theater lights.The unit is enclosed is a vented heat shield cage and controlled by a Bakelite control wheel with pointer from 0 to 140 volts scale. The Input Voltage is 120 VAC single phase 50 60 cycles per sec. The Output Voltage is 0 to 140 VAC thus can be used to increase line voltage drop if needed. Maximum kVA (wattage) is 6.3 or 6300 watts. Maximum amperage is 45 amps at the 140 volt level.This Powerstat new sells currently for 2 000. Although I bought it several years ago to increase possible line voltage drop in a 400 ft. line it has never been used thus is like new. Wooden shipping box is included.
