Responsible for the repair of vehicles (under warranty) to manufacturer specifications. That includes testing automotive systems with a variety of technical tools like infrared engine analyzers compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices major repairs to engines automatic transmissions manual transmissions suspension brakes electrical systems heating and cooling and general major performance issues. Requirements Five to eight years prior experience. Ford Certification. Advanced knowledge of diagnostic and repair systems. Instructor-led training in high school vocational school college technical school or any similarly qualifying mechanical training. Oversee the work of other mechanics or technicians to ensure they are performing quality repairs and sign-off on completed repairs Enforce safety procedures at all times to avoid accidental injuries and damage to automobiles. Be able to adapt to varying tasks according to changing volume and business needs. Must possess a valid driver s license and have a good driving record. Must exercise good judgment. Skills (Diesel Technician) Must have the ability to deal with everything from routine oil changes to full engine rebuilds. Should understand the vehicles electrical system engine and all of its working parts and be familiar with diagnostic computer software on some advanced vehicles to identify the issues.
