Utilities Production Manager

Direct oversee and coordinate the operation and maintenance of OSU s Central Thermal Plant and West Chilled Water Plant. These plants provide the University with continuous efficient dependable steam and chilled water to serve the campus load demand for facilities heating and cooling systems. Plan direct and administer the operation and maintenance of the OSU Water Treatment Plant. The Plant provides the campus with dependable quality potable water. Establish document and implement through the Supervisors - Plant administration policies operational and emergency procedures and maintenance standards. Perform varied administrative duties. Emergency or unusual conditions may require reporting to campus at random times. Employee will work in plant environment which may pose exposure to noise dust grease chemicals high low pressure steam moving equipment high-voltage electricity high ambient temperatures high noise levels refrigerants and natural gas. Some utility tunnels have poor ventilation. Plant environments require mobility on ladders stairs and access holes. Minimum qualifications Two years post-secondary education and two years of experience in a mechanical-electrical operation or production oriented field operation and maintenance in Steam-Electric Power Plants and Chilled Water Production or other municipal utility plants overhaul of mechanical plant equipment and or knowledge of domestic water treatment production or HS GED and four years of the above experience. Ability to develop utility plant operating and maintenance procedures develop plans and specifications for major equipment replacements upgrades and repairs analyze equipment operation for efficiency. Competent knowledge of boilers chillers pumps variable frequency drives chilled water compressors cooling tower and distribution system operations plant auxiliaries and the necessary maintenance on all of the above equipment Preferred qualifications Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field and 7 years of experience with the following first line supervision in a mechanical-electrical operation or production oriented field w minimum of 10 employees operation and maintenance in Steam-Electric Power Plants and Chilled Water Production or other municipal utility plants overhaul of mechanical plant equipment and domestic water treatment production.
