Is your child moving into first or second grade Did your child receive scores of 2 in reading or writing Does your child s teacher have concerns about your child s reading abilities Did your child receive yellows or red on Mclass assessment reports Is your child on Track 1 Then this is the place for your child My name is Rebecca Armstrong. I am a first grade teacher with a passion for teaching kids to read. I work closely every year with students who struggle with reading. I also work closely with the parents of these students. I see how frustrated and overwhelmed these parents feel. The expectations for reading are very high and I know firsthand that teachers do not always get to spend as much time with each and every one of our students as we would like. I want to give parents an opportunity for their child to receive some extra help over track out. I am offering a one week reading and writing camp in my home. I am only excepting 4 students for the week to allow more one on one time with students. If there is greater demand then I will add another week. The camp will be three hours per day for 5 days. We will focus on reading and reading comprehension as well as phonemic awareness and writing skills. The lessons will be tailored to meet the needs of the students in the camp. I will use your child s report card comments mclass data and notes from parent- teacher conferences to create the lessons.
