The Teacher s Assistant is responsible for assisting the lead teacher by providing appropriate support in daily Montessori classroom activities. This includes assisting in promoting and supervising the healthy emotional social intellectual and physical development of each child as well as assisting with lunch and supervising playground duty maintaining an emphasis on providing optimum safety for all students.The Teacher s Assistant will maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times maintain a clean and neat appearance according to the dress code attend all staff and parent group meetings and in-service trainings and display a positive attitude toward staff children and parents that promotes an overall sense of teamwork in the workplace.Day-to-day duties include assisting children regarding appropriate clothing (i.e. clothes straightened shoes tied) and helping them keep faces and hands clean helping the children in establishing healthy toilet habits and personal hygiene implementing positive discipline techniques according to Montessori guidelines maintaining classroom supplies and classroom appearance and leaving the classroom clean and organized at the end of the day.The Teacher s Assistant will work to become familiar with the Montessori concept of education philosophy and goals and will eventually prepare daily lesson plans for before and afterschool programs. This individual will be a model of professionalism for parents assistants and children at all times and will assist the lead teacher at all times with a positive supportive attitude.
