Chorea Disease - A Family Needs Your Donations

Last year Stephen & Crystal Koerber bought a home in Court Gladwin Michigan. Most never seen the potential of this little house. It had been on the market for years. Flooded mold engulfed gutted and stripped. Unfortunate events had taken the luster from this little home just as life events had taken the luster from Steve and Crystal. (Photos of Crystal show how this disease can fastly take effect to this beautiful mother of two and a wife.) Steve lost his leg in a motorcycle accident at 18 years old but he didn t let that hold him back. At one time he was a successful builder in Colorado. The economic down turn in 2008 hurt Steve & Crystal in more ways than just financial. Crystal became stricken with a mysterious disease shortly after the birth of her second daughter. After many misdiagnoses the doctors determined it to be Chorea a disease with uncontrolable movements. A once vibrant beautiful women of 5 11 is now a shadow at a mere 108 pounds. The disease progressively became so severe that Social Services threatened to take the girls if Steve did not stay at home and care for Crystal and the girls full time. With few options and high rent they were facing what every parent fears most. Moving their precious girls into a neighborhood and school that was not safe. Fortunately Steve discovered through family in Gladwin a little house. He had been told how beautiful it was in the Gladwin area. For Steve and Crystal it represented a chance at a new life. It already had a ramp for Crystal to move easily in and out of the home. It had an apple tree in the front yard for their two daughters Caiylin 10 and Renee 7 to climb a quiet safe street to ride bikes beautiful views out all the windows and 3 bedrooms for the girls to have a room of their own for the first time in their short lives. Steve purchased this house a year ago and has made several trips to Michigan to renovate this home but Crystal s condition has worsened to the point that he cannot leave her in the care of others. This week he packed up his whole family and made the painful journey with Crystal for her to see their house for the first time. Crystal s condition makes it hard to travel as the dystonia (is so severe it causes constant muscle contractions that make riding in confined spaces very difficult.) With bare studs and partial plywood on the floor Crystal noticed a small picture drawn in pencil on a stud in the kitchen. It must have been Caylin s gift to her new home from the last trip in December. It said My Home and had the entire family happily around the little house with one new addition. Caylin had drawn a cat and dog in the portrait something the girls want very badly but cannot have in the apartment. Crystal has a full-time caregiver right now and we just received a powered wheelchair so Crystal can get around the home a little easier. Steve and Crystal need your help. Time and money have all run out. With the money we receive from our donations we would pay for medical bills future doctor appointments upgrading our home so it can be more handicap friendly for Crystal. Since we just received a powered wheelchair we would buy a vehicle that has an insert area for the wheelchair so it would be easier to take Crystal to her doctor visits and to the park so she can enjoy being with her kids. We pray with the money we receive from the donations we can find a cure - Crystal wants to be around for her daughters future. Steve Koerber is a fantastic supporter caregiver loving husband and father and needs your help and donations in any way you can give the Koerber Family. Donations you can reach Steve Koerber.
