KEY REQUIREMENTS U.S. Citizenship Must pass pre-employment examination Must be proficient in written and spoken English Designated and-or Random Drug Testing required Background and-or Security Investigation required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12 31 1959 DUTIES TOUR OF DUTY Evening Shift 3 30 p.m. to Midnight (Rotating Weekends) The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is assigned to the Community Living Center. The LPN provides technical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients according to a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse (RN). The LPN reports to the RN who is responsible for the assigned patient s care. The LPN provides for the personal care of patients. Identifies and reports more subtle signs of change in patient s condition. Assists the RN in formulating nursing objectives for individual patient care. Participates in the implementation of the care plan developed by the RN. Assists the RN with modifications in treatment plans to accommodate the changes that occur with aging. Solicits information on cultural and religious preference as they relate to illness health and dying. Shares information with team members for the purpose of planning patient care. Provides input into discharge planning rounds. Interacts with patients family members professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care and with members of other services. Recognizes and initiates appropriate actions in urgent emergent situations including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) when appropriate. Physical Requirements This position requires Heavy Lifting 45 pounds heavy carrying 45 pounds straight pulling (4 hours) pushing (4 hours) use of fingers both hands required walking & standing 8-12 hours repeated bending 8 hours both legs required ability for rapid mental& muscular coordination simultaneously near vision correctable (at) 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4 far vision correctable in one eye to 20 20 and to 20 40 in the other depth perception ability to distinguish shades of colors hearing (aide permitted). Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium dementia or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature flexible sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations able to shift priorities based on patient needs. The salary listed is a range for information purpose. The salary will be commensurate with the selectee s training and experience. Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.
