This reading program will teach your child the 44 sounds of the English Language. Most likely your child has been taught to read using the whole word method (sight words). This method does not work for every child. It can be confusing and overwhelming. Schools encourage your child to memorize these words but as they progress through each grade words get more difficult and they do not have the tools to decode multi-syllable words. That is when comprehension breaks down and frustration takes over. The process of decoding will give your child the foundation for all other steps in reading e.g fluency comprehension and vocabulary development. This program is the complete opposite of the reading programs taught in public schools today and is not well known on Long Island. It has changed my philosophy of teaching reading. It is an actual reading course with a beginning and an end. Yes you could hire a tutor to help your child get by and help with their homework but they will continue to just get by .
