ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCESUNIVERSITY OF NEVADA SCHOOL OF MEDICINERENO NVThe University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) is currently seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Working with a collaborating physician the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse cares for an assigned panel of adult patients with neuropsychiatric disorders in an outpatient clinic via telemedicine or both. With backup the individual evaluates patients devises a treatment plan and implements it referring patients with very complex neuropsychiatric and medical problems to clinic physicians or referring patients for psychotherapy as indicated. The position reports to the Chair Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM). As part of an evaluation of new patients the APRN will obtain a history and perform a mental status examination as well as appropriate physical examination and laboratory assessment. In follow-up the APRN provides medication management counseling and appropriate referral for other clinical services and completes documentation including medical notes and billing documents as needed. The APRN will review cases with collaborating physician acts as liaison with other clinicians as indicated for patients well-being provide court testimony and complete documents for emergency and involuntary admission as needed assists with research projects as appropriate including liaison for subject recruitment and attend clinic meetings.REQUIREMENTS Master s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with major in nursing and either (1) concentration in psychiatric nursing or (2) concentration in family medicine with extensive training in psychiatric issues and with certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse APRN.Licensure in the State of Nevada as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) completed by employment hire date.
