Capture Your Champion on Canvas

The Equine and Animal Artistry of Maureen Shelleau A brief history of my career..Having attained three College Art Degrees (Visual Arts Classical Animation and Computer Animation) I pursued my love of the arts in the animation industry. Since the early 80 s I was designing characters and animating for various studios in North America and Overseas including Nelvana and Disney. A long list of television series and feature film credits accumulated over the years including such productions as Carebears Ewoks Dog City Thundercats My Pet Monster Blazing Dragons Pippi Longstocking Babar All Dogs Go To Heaven II Little Bear Franklin and The Princess and The Frog to name a few. Throughout my animation career I continued to paint horses pets and wildlife and was internationally recognized as an Equine Artist with works such as The Lords of Legend (Secretariat Northern Dancer and Man o War) Above and Beyond (Showjumping Champions Ian Millar and Big Ben) and Captors Of The Crown (With Approval Izvestia Dance Smartly Peteski and Wando). I eventually decided to follow my love of equine artistry full time and have painted portraits of many famous and not-so-famous horses and animals for clients world-wide. Various charities were supported through the sale of my published prints including The American Horse Protection Association The Michigan Horse Welfare Association Disabled Riders Humane Societies and Animal Aid Organizations The Mental Health Association Feral Cat Rescue (and many more). Throughout my career I have donated original paintings of wildlife to various fund-raising auctions to assist local charities and animal rescue organizations and have won many awards in juried art competitions. Currently my latest painting features Satan s War (a retired horse who served 20 years with the NOPD) which will be used as a fund-raiser for the Humane Society of the United States at the Honoring The Horse Event in New Orleans this Spring. I am currently taking orders for commissioned portraits for 2015. I work in oil pastel pencil acrylic and sculpture. I also design logos and character mascots for your facility or business. If you have a special equine companion in mind to honor in a commissioned portrait please do not hesitate to write so we may discuss the details of your portrait. Just as each animal has it s own specific characteristics and personality each client s vision is special. I negotiate pricing to meet your budget and your vision of the finished portrait including size medium and subject. Whether it is a head portrait full figure or entire herd pricing is individually negotiated between myself and you the owner of your beloved animal. My pricing starts at 1000.00 for drawings and pastel paintings for one head study and includes shipping and handling within the U.S. and Canada. Although I am currently updating and rebranding my website with new content and my latest work an older version is still active online. Please visit www.TheHorseRules.com or email me for more information. Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with you and creating a stunning and memorable portrait of your special Equine or Animal Champion
