Small-Medium Dog Wanted For A Veteran

My Fiance was injured in Iraq when an IED blew up and flipped his convoy. He came home with shrapnel in his face and back PTSD TBI and other issues. Besides being his fiance I am also his caregiver and it kills me to watch how depressed and anxious all the time. I am looking to find him a small to medium size dog that could help out as if it were a service dog. The only problem is that as of right now I can not afford to purchase him the puppy. If anyone out there knows of something I can do or if someone can help that would be appreciated.
