Junior Electrical Design EngineerWater & Power Technologies LLCSalt Lake City UTResponsible for performing all electrical engineering and programming activities on assignedprojects and producing project deliverables on time and within budget. Coordinates electricaldesign with other disciplines on assigned Project Execution Team. Plans schedules conducts and coordinates assigned engineering work monitors work for compliance to applicable codes client specifications and accepted engineering practices.Responsibilities Commit to putting safety first. Participate as an integral part of a Project Execution Team. Perform electrical engineering design programming drafting and tasks necessary to execute custom engineered projects for in-house and outsourced fabrication of complete water treatment systems. Produce and review engineering design and fabrication documents that comply with customer specifications national codes and internal policies standards and procedures. Process Flow Diagrams (PFD s) Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P& ID s) Equipment Lists and Specifications Electrical 1-Lines diagrams Network Drawings Power Distribution and Control Wiring Schematics Panel Layouts Written Control Documents etc. Design and configure networks using a variety of communication protocols including Ethernet Allen Bradley ControlNet Profibus etc. Write PLC ladder logic and develop operator interface screens using a variety of programming software including Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View InTouch Wonderware Automation Direct CMore etc. Test and Troubleshoot PLC programming equipment instrumentation and interface communications on water treatment systems. Interface with Project Managers Purchasing vendors coworkers and management personnel regarding purchases procedures product specifications manufacturing capabilities and project status. Participate in establishing project schedules and meet committed project deliverable dates. Participate in establishing project budget and meet committed individual project labor and materials budget. Understand material costs select materials and design systems that are within project materials budgets. Provide engineering approval of BOMs and authorize expenditures following the Delegation of Authority and project budgets Participate in process improvements to improve quality efficiency and profitability. Perform other activities as directed by the Engineering Manager. Be mentored by more senior engineering staff.Requirements Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Engineering Intern or EIT License Certification preferred. Coursework or practical experience with PLC and HMI programming. Coursework or practical experience with 2D design drafting software (AutoCAD or PromisE preferred). 1-3 years engineering experience in the manufacturing or water treatment industry (food & beverage power petro-chem etc.) preferred. Strong computer skills including all MS Office programs AutoCAD Various Programming Languages the ability to learn and utilize in-house and 3rd party software tools. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interface with coworkers suppliers and clients. Well organized detail oriented and self-motivated individual capable of multi-tasking and working well under pressure with limited supervision.
