When applying for a building permit your local building department will have many forms that they will require owner tenant in some cases and contractor to sign and have notarized by a Notary Public. The main purpose of a Notary Public is that the person signing the document is the person that is standing in front of them. The building department will then verify that the person that is signing is the owner of the property an authorized person of the corporation the tenant of the property will be accepted in some cases the qualifier for the General Contractor Company or qualifier for the Sub Contracting Company. In South Florida almost all building departments will want the original documents with the original signatures to verify that documents are authentic. Copies of these documents will not be accepted.
