Beautiful replica of a Tang Dynasty (618 to 907 AD) ceramic horse. Made by Chinese craftsmen who press clay into a mold which was made from an authentic Tang era horse sculpture. Traditional sancai glazes applied by master craftsmen and kiln fired resulting in a horse sculpture that resembles an authentic Tang era artwork. Horse sculptures similar to this example were placed in the tombs of the Tang era emperors so they would have beautiful horses to ride in the afterlife. Size 15 inches high.
