Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities Report to the General Manager Practical creativity to provide innovative entrees Experience in techniques of large banquets and presentation of such Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparations Strong inventory control skills Work closely with Food & Beverage Director and GM to develop imaginative menus Consistently check line plating and quality Utilize a hands on approach to training and developing kitchen staff Teach all staff the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation Responsible for food purchasing including negotiating prices Develop restaurant lounge and banquet menus which will appeal to guests of the hotel and local patrons Stay current on new products that can improve quality and or lower costs Managerial Responsibilities Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills Build morale and spirit Use a Hands On approach Train and cross train all employees Instill a positive guest service attitude in all employees Coach employees on how to resolve and de-escalate conflicts Instill a calm positive and organized approach to all situations Requirements Head Chef experience required Be able to work various shifts including evenings and weekends Able to manage change effectively Provide leadership to the position Be able to communicate goals and objectives and inspire employees to achieve those goals Demonstrate team building Ability to lead by example Knowledge of current culinary trends an asset To APPLY Submit your resume via email to sandra(at)excel.bc.ca OR Excel.bc.ca Please click the Apply to this Job button on our Job Board.
