Engineer

Performs design work on all utility distribution systems at OSU. Specifies materials and ensures work is performed in keeping with the design specified. Reviews drawings from outside sources to determine acceptability with OSU requirements. Responsible for all necessary project documentation. Acts as the project manager on water gas chilled water steam storm and wastewater utility construction projects. Requires travel to job sites throughout the OSU system and A& M colleges training classes meetings vendors manufacturing facilities etc. Will be expected to work evenings and or weekends when necessary. Construction sites may include exposures found on building construction sites including the following enclosed systems high voltage equipment steam and high temperature water open mechanical and rotating equipment high air pressures open trenches working from ladders or heights and areas of friable asbestos and processes that contain hazardous chemicals biohazard and radioactive products. Job site conditions will require hard hat safety shoes safety glasses and other PPE as required. Must be able to occasionally move about or remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly positions self to fulfill the duties of the position which include work in small mechanical rooms and other engineering activities for facilities. Working in confined spaces is sometimes required. The physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves safety glasses etc.). These items are not for personal use. Minimum qualifications Bachelor degree in Engineering Engineering Technology or related field and one year of engineering experience including drafting technical writing estimating and design. Ability to enter and retrieve information from a computer with reasonable accuracy. Working knowledge of state and federal safety and environmental guidelines and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint) Scheduling Software and AutoCAD. Organized and able to work with both management and contractors. Basic problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a team environment. Basic understanding of building codes applicable to engineering work. Basic understanding of life safety codes applicable to engineering work. For consideration apply online at s jobs.okstate.edu.
