Come help us help kids. Opportunity Overview CHILD CARE STAFF Support the Child Care Director in facilitating pre-designed programs in an assigned area. Expected to communicate with and motivate youth in a positive manner. Majority of responsibility is working directly with youth ensuring their safety well-being and development through interactive play and other activities as directed. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to programs activities and services that prepare youth for success while contributing to creating a Club environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcome achievement. Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment while helping to ensure that facilities equipment and supplies are maintained. Contribute to planning developing implementing and evaluating programs services and activities. Ensure a productive work environment. Prepare activities which ensure that a culturally and developmentally appropriate program is offered. Develop positive interactions with children and their families. Ensure that all classrooms are maintained to high standards of safety are organized and neat. Transport small groups of children in a safe and careful manner on field trips using a Club twelve passenger van. Meet regularly with the staff and director to ensure the smooth running of all programs. Work assigned shift with an expectation to be flexible. Continue to develop professional skills through a minimum of 10 hrs of training each year. Complete other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES High School diploma GED or currently enrolled in college. Minimum 1 year of experience with school age children. Completion of the initial 20 hrs. of STARS or letter of exemption (within six months of hire). TB test results required prior to employment. HIV AIDS and BBP certification (within one month of hire). Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles. Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check. Youth development experience preferred. Knowledge and or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency Boys & Girls Club experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Good organization and attention to detail professional presence strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Understanding of youth development principles ability to motivate youth in a positive way. Able to communicate effectively with children and other adults. Ability to learn and support new ideas for the good of the Club.
