Local Nonprofit Holds it Annual Charity Bazaar. June 21-22 2014 RENO NV. . The Empowerment Center is holding its Annual Charity Bazaar at the 7400 S. Virginia Street in Reno Nevada on June 21 - 22. The Empowerment Center holds an annual bazaar to support programs that provide hope and support to our community s at risk populations. This year s event will be held under the new solar energy carport. In 2010 the Launching Pad Inc. purchased the old Ranch Motel in south Reno and the Empowerment Center was born. Providing housing to men women and veterans transitioning to a sober lifestyle. The Annual Charity Bazaar is being held on Saturday June 21 from 9 00 am 6 00 pm Sunday June 22 from 8 00 am to 3 00 pm. Good useable items are being sought from area businesses and community members to include for sale in the event. All donated items are tax deductible to the highest extent allowed by law. Community support has been tremendous for this project said Sandy Finelli The Empowerment Center Executive Director. Our purpose for this Charity Bazaar is to raise a minimum of 3 000 to support basic operating costs of the program. The Empowerment Center does not receive any tax dollars and is supported through fund raisers individual donations and the support of our community. Since The Empowerment Center opened in March 2005 the organization has helped numerous individuals in the Reno area transition to a sober lifestyle. The organization initially began with a strictly women s facility however due to the success The Empowerment Center experienced with the women s program Sandy Finelli stated that the organization quickly opened a men s facility in June 2008. The Empowerment Center utilizes the application of the widely accepted and proven 12-step program of recovery stated Frank DeCarlo The Empowerment Center board member. Our primary purpose is to help alcoholics and addicts recover from substance abuse and offer guidance in learning how to live successful productive lives. Our program is open to anyone with a sincere desire to achieve sobriety. About The Empowerment Center The mission of The Empowerment Center it to provide Safe and Sober housing to recovering addicts and alcoholics with services support and commitment to our client s long-term success using a 12-step recovery process. One aspect of the support is to provide sober living homes to those in need in the Reno Sparks area. A 501(c) 3 charitable organization The Empowerment Center was founded 3 15 2005 for the purpose of providing independent (not affiliated with any treatment center hospital institution or religion) 12-step based family style sober living homes for women in recovery from the disease of addiction.
