Cable Technician Apprentice A. POSITION SUMMARY Upon completing four weeks of the Apprentice Technician Training Program the Cable Tech Apprentice will work as a floater picking up routes from technicians who are falling behind schedule and helping to meet customer orders. The Cable Tech Apprentice will have an opportunity to enhance their skills and measure performance by Learning to do field work more thoroughly Learning to interact with Customers Picking up routes from Techs who are falling behind timeframes Helping to meet OTG ( on time guarantee ) missed appointments Opportunity to succeed at managing a route Performance and Metrics will define movement to next Tech level - Cable Tech I II III IV MAJOR DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES Install Cable T.V. and high speed data and or digital services including VOIP for customers within a determined area. Install and or repair coaxial cable lines inside and outside of customer s homes pursuant to cable system standards. Measure record and determine cable signal strength and general drop and grounding conditions or installations and trouble shoot problems where necessary. Maintain secure and account for equipment inventories including modems converters drop equipment and other equipment issues by company or cable system. Prepare regular accurate legible and timely cable system installation service and production mileage and timesheet paperwork for supervisors. Assist supervisor with day to day operations. Perform other duties as assigned. C. MINIMUM PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Education High School Diploma or equivalent Experience Completion of Apprentice Cable Technician Program Licenses Certifications Valid Driver s License with driving record that meets Safety Standards of the Company (Required) Additional Skills Knowledge Ability to follow prescribed company and cable system polices procedures and protocols for installation service equipment maintenance and office communications. Ability to communicate with customers in describing the cable TV service and proper operation of installed devices. Ability to present a neat and professional image that reflects well on the Company and clients. Must be able to read a map. Must possess basic math skills. D. PHYSICAL DEMANDS ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS o Must be able to lift 75 lbs. o Position also requires work on ladders and multistory buildings. o Work is performed inside and outside and underground including attics and crawlspaces with exposure to heat cold dampness noise and dust. o Work is also performed on occasion in confined spaces. o Position may occasionally require travel.
