Throughout the many years the Corvette has been in existence it has maintained its reputation for being a classic sports car. This is an original 1958 body and chassis that has undergone a complete chassis upgrade with modern components. (Not leftover parts from Corvettes) The rear suspension has been changed to a Jim Meyer coil over with a popular Ford 9 inch differential. The Jim Meyer 58 Corvette rear end kit places the narrowed 9-inch housing in the stock location for a stock appearance (under the fender). The kit features aluminum coil over shocks with a three position lower mounting point on the housing 4-link adjustable urethane-bushed control arms (1-inch od X .156-inch wall seamless tube) and an adjustable urethane-bushed Pan hard bar that bolts to the housing and needs the frame bracket welded into position. The forward mounting point for the 4-link bracket locates into the stock frame-mounted forward spring hangers. The front suspension has also been changed to a Jim Meyer stainless IFS suspension with a rack and pinion. The fully-adjustable suspension utilizes aluminum coil over-shocks that have a multi-position upper-and-lower attachment points for the easily-adjustable stance you like the best With fully adjustable upper A-arms. The IFS unit can be tuned by any alignment shop These 2 features in itself makes this a dream to drive on the open road in comfort. The complete chassis has undergone a complete near show quality restoration including sandblasting welding and grinding seams powder coating and 4 wheel disc brakes. The car is equipped with a 383 Chevrolet engine with 4 sped transmission. Just enough power to make this a fun and exciting car to drive. The engine is combined with a dual exhaust which has been jet coated to look nice for years to come. This car is not over powdered so drivability and reliability is the key for a road worthy custom street rod. The original body on this car is about as good as it gets. The body has never been in a major accident and retains all its original body panels except those that required modifications for suspension upgrades. The complete body undergone a complete sodium blast to protect the body panels and remove old paint and debris from the outside and under body panels. The outside body panels where then gel coated to protect the fiberglass from splintering. The car retains its original washboard hood and the very rare trunk lid with spears. The body at this time is ready for body and paint work.
