GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Clay Animation Network (CAN) is a traveling animation school that s located in Seattle. You will drive to all of your teaching sites on a regular basis. CAN has offered stop-motion and hand-drawn animation to children and adults at over 90 locations over the past 9 years producing over 2 500 student movies. You will work in a creative and rigorous environment with peers to develop animation curriculum for children and then implement that curriculum in various afterschool and summer programs in the area. Presently we are hiring for 1 position. Teacher only. JOB TITLE Afterschool and summer program teacher. 3 month trial to see if it s a good fit. Desiring long-term employees. You are evaluated on the following Ability to finish all work on time as stated without reminders. Diligent attention to detail in learning and implementing necessary instructional techniques. (If you struggle with motivation details consistency accountability this job is not for you). Supportive attitude and clear communication with team members and director. Committed interest in program s vision (don t just apply if you want a job). PERSONALITY Communicates clearly (no games or passive aggression) highly motivated friendly you think way outside of the box but cancancancan also complete left brained tasks and follow directions when needed. A sense of humor is required (or else ). SKILLS We will train you how to animate and use the equipment. You must be confident in some form of visual art skill and have experience handling large groups of children in a classroom setting. We only interview applicants who have 1 or more years of in-class experience working with large groups of children. If you like kids but only worked with family members or an occasional group this job is not a fit. TRANSPORTATION MUST have a car in excellent working condition that you maintain on a regular basis (requirement for driving to sites). No bus riders Taxi riders or borrowing your friend s family s car. Punctual and reliable attendance will make or break your employment. If you live further than 20 minutes away from the zip code 98103 keep in mind that we cannot pay your for your driving time to and from work. AVAILABILITY 1 30 - 6 30 p.m. M-F September - Mid June (after-school programs). 8am - 5pm from Mid June - the end of August (summer programs). Some Weekends TBA as need arises.
