Recreation Counselor (after school program)

The Afterschool Club is the premier provider of quality school age recreation programs. We strive consistantly to surpass the expectation of our children and their parents in a safe friendly and fun filled environment. We provide a recreation program with a variety of enrichment activities that meet the needs of our children. We offer our students arts and crafts team building unstructered playtime out side playtime and homework time. Qualified (as per the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services) school age workers needed to lead groups of school age children in a variety of enriching and educational activites. Duties include creating and executing lesson plans setting good character role models for students as well as daily duties and setup. The Afterschool Club services school districts throught out Lake County Illinois. Shifts are Monday through Friday 2 00 p.m. - 6 00 p.m. Some early morning shift before school 6 00a.m.-9 00a.m. are available as well. The position is for the school year (mid-August through mid June). Qualified applicants for the School Age worker position must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. In addition thirty semester hours of college credit with 6 semester hours in courses related to childcare early childhood education or recreation. OR one year (1560 working clock hours) of experience in recreation or centers serving in school age programs and 6 semester hours in related to school age childcare. OR High school Diploma or GED and 3120 clock hours of experience in child care.
