Date Sat Sept. 13th 2014 Time 12 00 pm - 2 00 pm Venue 1501 North C st Location Sacred Headquarters Sacred City Derby Girls Wants You If you are interested in derby then you owe it to yourself to come and check it out. You don t have to be an ace on skates to participate. We will assess you and put you in the training program that fits your needs. You won t be thrown into the fray until you are ready Although we have former Artistic and Speed skaters among our ranks most of us joined having not been on skates since we were kids or ever The only requirement is that you are 18 years of age (we have a number of skaters who are over 40 so you can scratch that excuse off your list). Try Outs Sat September 13th 2014 12 00 pm- 2 00 pm Warehouse at 1501 North C Street (NOT C STREET) Sacred City Derby Girls is ranked 45th in the Women s Flat Track Roller Derby Team Association. Roller Derby is a full contact sport But have no fear for we will work with you no matter the skill level. What to Bring Bring your ID water and a positive attitude We want this to be a fun experience for you. We know you are nervous we were too when we tried out But we are here to help you learn and have fun. If you already have skates or any protective gear (knee wrist or elbow pads helmet mouth guard) please bring those with you. What you don t have we will provide for you so no worries if you have nothing we will suit you up FYI Tryouts are CLOSED to the public meaning you cannot bring anyone with you who isn t interested in trying out or volunteering No exceptions What to Expect at Tryouts Expect to work hard and have fun You will arrive fill out some paperwork and watch a modified practice which include a pace line drills and a scrimmage. After that you will gear up and skate with the derby girls We will play derby related games. This will include stops glides and crossovers. There will be no contact related games. We will watch for how comfortable you are on your skates how well you balance if you can crossover etc. Being comfortable on your skates is the key to this sport Please fill out the sign in sheet
