Location(s) CT RI Regional HQ T1 Darien Office T2 New Canaan Office Responsibilities To assist the Chapter Facility Manager by addressing less critical building and grounds issues in a timely fashion. Liaison with office staff and contractors. Potentially perform minor maintenance and ground keeping. The selected volunteers will be assigned to one of the following locations Darien New Canaan Bethel Bridgeport Milford New Haven Waterbury Rhode Island. To ensure that any immediate facility (Inside & Outside) need can be addressed or corrected by taking care of the problem themselves or by escalating the issue to the Chapter Facilities Manager. The type of tasks may include changing of ceiling fluorescent light bulbs hanging a bulletin board patrolling grounds of debris anything to the extent the volunteer feels comfortable in handling To monitor the thoroughness and job quality of the cleaning company that is hired to clean our offices. Qualifications Mechanical inclined Know how to turn off electricity to a specific room Know how to turn off the water to a building Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance General grounds keeping knowledge How to change a fluorescent light bulb Length of Appointment 1 year - renewable Development Opportunities Some buildings are very similar to the needs of a typical home. Some buildings are very unique and may be similar to an office building. The Chapter Facility Manager will show the volunteer what is expected that can be carried over or utilized outside of the Red Cross. Requirements Will have a tour of facility(s) to familiarize volunteer with where things are and what is expected within their limitations.
