JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE Training & Tech Support Intern REPORTS TO Director of Supportive Employment Services HISTORY OF THE Millionair Club Charity Since its founding in 1921 the Millionair Club Charity has operated a 501 (c )3 non-profit corporation that has never lost sight of its mission that everyone in the Puget Sound Region should have access to jobs and support services.Specialists in rebuilding the self-confidence and dignity of people who are homeless or face other barriers to employment the Millionair Club Charity s supportive employment program offers free services specially designed for the needs of this population group. These services include meals showers laundry service storage lockers work clothes job training occupational licensing eye exams and prescription eye glasses. Once people are job ready they can connect to jobs through the MCC s temporary staffing agency which is a social enterprise. A social enterprise is a for-profit business that generate monies that can be used in support of the non-profit organization s mission. The goal for each person enrolled in the employment program a permanent job with a sustainable living wage. And this combination works In 2016 over 1 000 men and women accomplished 16 258 days of work and 232 people achieved permanent placements saving community tax payers over 9 million in service payments.The Millionair Club Charity has an opening for a compassionate and enthusiastic Training and Tech Support Intern. This is a paid position. The TTS Intern position is funded by the Office of Labor Standards Community Outreach and Education Fund (OLSCOEF) -from now through March 2019 and is responsible for meeting Office of Labor Standards outcomes for targeted audiences who are homeless and have a history of incarceration as well as other barriers to employment. The OLS Training and Tech Support Intern works to ensure the education training and outreach goal of 1 359 people during the 2017-2019 program year is met annually by coordinating in-house activities providing education resources referrals and other support needed to help workers understand and advocate for their rights. The ideal candidate will be able to help low skilled workers navigate basic training modules motivate Transitional workers to learn about their rights while being responsive to their employment related needs and concerns. The successful candidate will provide continuous feedback to workers regarding their rights as employees and direct them towards appropriate Office of Labor Standards funded agencies for extensive labor laws advocacy as needed. The Millionair Club Charity is a fast paced and growing supportive employment program. The Office of Labor Standards Training and Outreach Specialist should be an individual who is flexible in scheduling time and have the ability to assist a wide array of program participants who have varying levels of computer knowledge from early beginners to the more advanced.The Office of Labor Standards Training Coordinator Outreach Specialist will play a vital role in educating Millionair Club Charity s temporary staffing agency workforce (which is a social enterprise) about Washington state labor standard laws.Salary Details Hourly Range 14- 15.50 hour (non-exempt position).Hours Week Monday to Friday 9 00 a.m.to 2 00 pm some weekends.Benefits None.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following although others may be assigned Ensure MCC s transitional workers gain OLS information and education by facilitating OLS workshops and trainings at MCC and in the community at 5 events a year. Review all OLS laws and makes referrals to advocacy agencies when needed. Supports the Employment Program by providing technical assistance to all those utilizing the computer lab ensuring that everyone understands how to use both the hardware and software training programs used to support their individual job search and employment readiness. Support OLS outcomes by developing and maintaining relationships and communications with various OLS funded projects and the OLS Office. Collects data regarding numbers of workshop attendees number reached in outreach and numbers referred out. Ensures ongoing OLS Education for active workers by following up through a variety of different touch points including one-on-one meetings workshops presentations phone calls text message and or social media contacts. Hosts OLS workshops on site for MCC workers staff and attend 3 career fairs and other employment focused events each year. Provide well documented monthly activity reports to Director of Client Services. Participate as a speaker at 5 job fairs a year. Represent MCC as an OLS funded agency at 2 events a year. Preferred Experience and EducationValid driver s license. BA BS in a human service field or equivalent work experience. Minimum of one year of experience working with homeless or disadvantaged individuals with barriers to employment. Commitment to serving individuals who face employment barriers and helping them gain sustainable lasting employment. Demonstrated trust and relationship building skills and ability. Strong organizational written and verbal skills. Knowledge of social economic vocational and emotional issues impacting persons with employment barriers. Ability to creatively assist workers with various computer literacy skills ranging from those who have none to those who have high skills. Must be a self-starter with a results oriented attitude. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities including helping people log onto and complete their training modules as well as answer questions from others needing information regarding our programs. Experience using Microsoft office products (Excel Word PowerPoint etc.) and other computer software such as Salesforce. Comfortable with public speaking. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
