Miami Workers Center (MWC) Miami s leading social change nonprofit organization is seeking a FULL TIME COMMUNITY ORGANIZER to provide a wide range of organizing planning and outreach activities including Conducting grassroots community outreach in low incomes communities of color (including Liberty City Allapattah Little Havana and Wynnwood) throughout the City of Miami to recruit members including direct door knocking and canvasing visiting churches community based organizations and local businesses and phone banking Organizing planning recruiting education and activism Developing outreach recruitment and educational materials Conducting Leadership Development including identifying and training potential community leaders Developing and implementing successful organizing campaigns Mobilizing community members to organize community meetings town hall meetings public events and issue-based actions and Building and sustaining relationships with other organizations and coalitions within the local state and national arenas. Candidate is Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish) minimum of two (2) years demonstrated organizing and outreach experience in low income communities and in similar Miami weather has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with community members from different ethnic religious and cultural background is highly passionate about gender social racial and economic justice and immigrant rights issues has experience with recruitment building leadership group facilitation planning and running events workshops and actions has the ability to work as an effective team member has excellent verbal and written communication skills and good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel. Candidate must also have a fully insured vehicle and valid driver s license the ability to work flexible hours with significant evenings and weekend demands and the ability to travel in and out of state.
