Research Study Volunteers Ages 18-45

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking Healthy Adults for Research Study. The purpose of this research study is to determine whether sequential exposure to the common air pollutants nitrogen dioxide and ozone results in greater physiological changes than exposure to either pollutant alone. Healthy nonsmoking physically active adults ages 18 to 45 will be exposed to nitrogen dioxide ozone and clean air under several exposure scenarios. They will perform light exercise on a stationary bicycle or treadmill at 15-minute intervals during exposures. Lung function tests will be performed and heart rate will be monitored. Blood will be drawn before and after each exposure and on the follow-up day as well. The study takes about 66 hours over 8 to 10 weeks. If you complete all visits and procedures you will be paid 2216. www.epastudies.org. The EPA Human Studies Facility is located on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.
