The Data Librarian Performs basic media management tasks which includes but is not limited to o Preparing tapes for use in the tape libraries o Loading to and unloading tapes from the tape libraries using either library front panel controls or through the backup application o Labeling tapes for use by the backup application o Removing full backup tapes using the daily movement reports o Preparing tapes for shipment to the off-site media storage facility o Receiving tapes from the off-site storage vendor Maintains and updates the media inventory database Tracks media movement from the tape libraries to the off-site storage facility and back. Interacts with and assists support personnel with recovery requests by recalling needed media and loading it into the appropriate library Interacts with and assists support personnel with semi-annual SOX testing Provides support for BCP and DR related activities using specialized processes and procedures Analyzes and resolves hardware issues related with the tape libraries Provides training and or mentoring to support staff and or Data Library as required Performs other assigned duties requested by the Data Protection or Facilities personnel Preferred Skill Set Requirements Experience with large scale media operations supporting multiple sites Experience with EMC s Legato NetWorker Experience with IBM Tape Libraries and Ultrium tape drives Experience with EMC Virtual DISK Tape Libraries (EDL) Basic to Intermediate UNIX Solaris experience Basic PC and MS Office skills Excellent Communications Skills Ability to evaluate problems and resolve problems or escalate the situation as appropriate Physically able to lift 50 lbs. Self-Starter Fast Learner Punctual and reliable Open to flexible work schedule (on-call overtime some weekends and holidays) Flexible able to handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently Understands the sense of urgency and support needed surrounding operational problems in an intense production environment Objective and friendly in interacting with individuals at all levels Open to performing physical and administration tasks equally as needed For further information please respond with a summary of your qualifications and contact information.
