Sunflower Preschool Redondo Beach California Job Opening Director Sunflower Preschool serving the South Bay since 1980 seeks a dynamic person to serve as the director. Sunflower Preschool serves children from 2-6 years of age and is open from 7am to 6 pm. The school currently has 7 staff members including the director and is licensed for up to 54 children. The director oversees all operations of the school including design and review of the curriculum supervision and training of staff compliance with all State of California licensing requirements ordering of supplies and equipment and oversight of the physical plant of the school. The director works with the owners on finances including billing. Qualifications Bachelor s degree required with a major or emphasis in early childhood Education or Child Development. The director must also have 3 semester credits in administration or staff development. Applicants with other majors may be considered if they have the 12 credits in Early Childhood Education required by the State of California. At least one year of prior experience teaching children from 2-6 years. Computer expertise CPR First Aid Certification Duties Administer day-to-day operations of the preschool Administer and review a high-quality educational program for children at each stage of development be knowledgeable about new research in early childhood Administer a high quality child-care program that complies with all state regulations Ensure that the school provides a safe and healthy environment for children and staff Manage enrollment and recruit new students Conduct fire drills and earthquake disaster drills as required by law Communicate regularly with preschool parents Train and supervise staff of teachers and aides and encourage staff development Complete yearly staff evaluations Order supplies and equipment as necessary Plan and host holiday events for children and families Administer off-site educational field trips Pay and Benefits Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications Health insurance through Kaiser (available to employees after the 6 month probationary period and with a 50 50 share of premiums).
